What we’re about
# 📚Welcome to Tokyo Read & Tell Book Cub 📚
We are two friends passionate about books among many other things.
Whether you are an occasional reader or an avid book reader, we invite you to join us and have great discussions around the chosen Book of the month.
Our Book Club primarily focuses on Contemporary Fiction published within the past couple of years. We aim to diversify the genres and get out of our reading comfort zone.
We will be exploring the themes, characters, writing styles etc. of each book and give our personal thoughts and opinions, each session will end with a general score for the book.
If you live in Tokyo and want to meet new people and make new friends over a few drinks this group is for you!
Cheers

See all- June Book: One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García MárquezClock Tower, Yoyogi Park, Tokyo
Hello everyone,
Our book for June will be One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez. The brilliant, bestselling, landmark novel that tells the story of the Buendia family, and chronicles the irreconcilable conflict between the desire for solitude and the need for love—in rich, imaginative prose that has come to define an entire genre known as "magical realism."
We will hold the event at Yoyogi Park. The meeting place will be in front of Yoyogi Park Clock Tower. Once we are all gathered, we will head to a nice spot on the grass. Feel free to bring mats to sit on and snacks.
If it rains, we will move the event to Canal Cafe in Kagurazaka.
Please read the book if you are coming (this seems obvious, but we have had people who hadn't read the book at all, it will be difficult to enjoy the discussions if you don't, it's ok if you haven't finished it!)
For newcomers, our event flow goes like this:
1. Get your seat and order drinks/food
2. Greetings and Introductions
3. Start the discussion (a little summary of the story, characters, etc)
4. Questions, answers, more questions...
5. Average score
6. Free talk
