One-Day Film Challenge — Reel Makers Norwich

Start: Bar Marzano (inside The Forum, Millennium Plain, Norwich NR2 1TF)
Finish: The Ribs of Beef, 24 Wensum St, Norwich NR3 1HY

What this is
Make a short film in one day with other Norwich filmmakers. Any experience level. Bring gear if you’ve got it; if not, bring energy—there’s always a role. Finished films can go on the group YouTube.

Plan for the day

• 11:00 – Meet at Bar Marzano (you’ll find me in the outside seating area), quick intros, form teams
• 11:20 – Brief + challenge prompt reveal
• 11:30–16:30 – Shoot around Norwich
• 16:30 – Regroup at Ribs of Beef (wrap, swap contacts, decompress).

The Challenge

• Create a short film, max length 3 mins (credits included).
• Must include: one exact line of dialogue and two specified locations (revealed at the start; must appear on screen).
• Tell a story with a beginning, middle, end.
• Any camera is fine: phone, DSLR, whatever.

What to bring

• Phone/camera (charged) + spare batteries/power bank
• Storage (SD cards, card reader, SSD)
• Mic/tripod if you have them
• Weather-proof clothing (we’re shooting whatever the skies throw at us)

After the event (uploads & YouTube)

• Edit after the meetup and submit within 48 hours via email reelmakersnorwich@gmail.com
• We’ll compile a playlist on the Reel Makers Norwich YouTube channel. If you’d rather not share publicly, say so—no pressure.

Ground rules (so the day doesn't go off the rails)

• Be safe. No stunts, no replica weapons in public, no dumb risks.
• Be respectful. Get permission for private property; don’t annoy businesses or the public.
• Music. Use rights-safe tracks only.
• Consent. If someone’s featured, get a yes.
• Show up or change your RSVP. No-shows waste everyone’s time.
