Join us for a Sauna Smörgås, where we sandwich a 2 hour Nordic Sauna session in between Ida's EveryBody Breathe & Hands on Healing classes. This is a 4.5hr mini-retreat for all genders 18+, the sauna session will be clothing optional.
Smörgås means sandwich in Swedish ;)
Retreat Order:
1: EveryBody Breathe is a breathwork class that will teach you various breathing techniques within the Shamanic Breathwork tradition. Shamanic Breathwork uses circular and rhythmic breathing patterns, breath retention, and gentle somatic movement to promote balance within the mind, body and spirit connection. The intention of EveryBody Breathe is to help you deepen your connection with your breath, reduce stress, improve clarity, boost your mood, ease anxiety, and enhance emotional regulation.
2: Nordic Sauna is a process of 15 minutes in the hot sauna (170°F - 200°F) followed by either a cold water plunge or dousing which is then repeated 2-3 more times depending on tolerance. The entire process takes approximately 90 minutes to complete. A sauna whisk made of birch, oak, or eucalyptus is used to gently beat and whisk the body to encourage circulation and blood flow while offering protection and purification (whisks are available for purchase when in season).
As the Finnish proverb states "All humans are equal, but nowhere more so than in a sauna". The sauna is a uniquely capable holding space where all of the elements come together for support. Within this space, we come as we are. We come for washing, for good health, and for healing. This is a sacred form of ritual bathing that has been practiced in Northern Europe for at least 7,000 years.
3: Hands on Healing is a self-care class that teaches you how to effectively use your own hands and household props for self-massage. Ida will teach you various therapeutic approaches to hands on healing within the Swedish Massage Tradition, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release and Post Isomettric Relaxation (PIR). The intention of Hands on Healing is to empower your massage skills, establish body awareness, decrease pain, increase blood flow, relieve muscle tension and promote full body relaxation.
