This new premier event features a journey through the southern portion of the Desolation Wilderness followed by an ascent of Jacks peak. This advanced event will not only provide a good physical challenge but also extraordinary views throughout the trip. Beginning at Echo Lakes, the route follows an 8.5 mile 2-day approach with approximately 1,100' of gain, following the PCT through Haypress Meadows and along Lake Aloha, to a 2nd night camp near Heather Lake at the foot of Jacks Peak. The third day, a 2,000' ascent of the southeast face of Jacks to the south ridge and summit. If time and conditions allow, we can continue across Jacks North ridge to Dicks Peak before retracing our route. The following day we hump back out to the T/H. Though planning on a 4-day trip, participants should consider the possibility of an extra day if conditions / time dictate.

This event provides skiers with an awesome ski descent of the Southeast Face of Jacks.

Snowshoes, skis, or split boards, your choice. However, if using snowshoes, they should be technical, otherwise, one is advised to bring crampons / micro-spikes. Full avy gear and an ice axe is also advised.

There is a cost of $20 / person for Desolation fees. Parking is at the Johnson Sno-Park and requires a pass.

Refunds available ONLY if trip is cancelled one week prior to the event or if an alternate fills your vacated slot.
