The Nutcracker and the Mouse King

Have you seen the Nutcracker Ballet at Christmastime? Join us in December to read the story that started it all: E.T.A. Hoffman’s “Nutcracker and the Mouse King,” published in 1816. The story is only about 70 pages, so if you have the time and interest, you might like to also read Alexandre Dumas’s 1845 adaptation titled “The Tale of the Nutcracker.” The Penguin edition in the event photo has both versions in a single book.
