What we’re about
Richmond City Cinema Club is all about cultivating a community of movie lovers. Our club is meant to be a fun and inclusive safe space, an easy social experience. Life is messy, but movies are cool. There's no pressure if you can't make it or don't feel like engaging once you're there... we're just happy to have you! And if you're looking to make real friends, we got you there too.
Events are movie showtimes at the Byrd or Movieland (and maybe the occasional Regal trip for an IMAX film or limited engagement). All movies are fair game, from independents to blockbusters, from new releases to classic films.
Sit with the group or wherever you'd like. Once the credits roll, we’ll meet up to chat about the movie and get to know your fellow moviegoers.

Persepolis is based on French-Iranian novelist and cartoonist Marjane Satrapi's graphic novel about her life in pre and post-revolutionary Iran and then in Europe. The film traces Satrapi's growth from child to rebellious, punk-loving teenager in Iran. In the background are the growing tensions of the political climate in Iran in the 70s and 80s, with members of her family detained and then executed, and the background of the disastrous Iran/Iraq war.
This is a free event and free parking is available in the large parking lot located directly across from Studio Two Three.

If this is your first movie with us, welcome! I’ll be there about 10-15min early in the lobby if you want to chat beforehand. In the theater, we tend to aim for the row with the railing. If it’s not busy, we try to space out so people can rest their elbows. You’re welcome to sit with us or wherever you prefer! After the movie, we’ll chat in the lobby. Don’t be a stranger
