#stayrelevant: how to keep up with changes in the R ecosystem
Details
Hi R-Ladies SB!
Have you ever returned to an old project only to realize that…
- Your code no longer runs
- Your code runs, but you get a warning about a deprecated function
- A more efficient or modern approach exists
- There’s an exciting new feature or tool, but your version of R isn’t compatible
We were curious about best practices for staying on top of new package releases, software updates, and emerging tools (e.g. RStudio → Positron, RMarkdown → Quarto), so we asked around, only to discover that many of our colleagues were wondering the same thing. So, we decided to turn that curiosity into a community conversation!
Join us for an open discussion where we’ll swap strategies, share challenges, and collectively brainstorm how to #stayrelevant in the ever-evolving world of R and data science. To make the most of this shared learning, we’d love to turn our discussion into a collaborative blog post. All participants will be invited to join as co-authors.
Please bring your laptop so we can work collaboratively in a shared Google Doc, and come ready to share an example of a time you discovered a new data science tool or approach (and how you first heard about it).
As always, all R-users, from beginners to experts, are welcome!
