Come enjoy an approx. 3 mile easy, slow/moderate paced walk in the beautiful, historical Van Saun Park, which includes a fun filled visit to the zoo!
Optional additional loop around the park depending upon conditions and interest.

Admission is FREE this time of the year. The train and carousel are closed til spring.

Zoo closes at 4:30.

There will be several stops along the way for a little history and photo opts. Let's see if we can find the brick that our dear, old friend Jay Glaser dedicated to the zoo and is in the entrance floor to the zoo.

The paths are generally flat, paved or brick lined and we may find some snowy areas by the Washington Spring paths, so weather resistant/ proof hiking boots or shoes are recommended along with sun protection and water. Dress in layers.

You will see animals from around the world and have the opportunity for a close encounter with Mountain Lions. Some of the enclosures are not ideal and will hopefully be improved with time. Until then the zoo provides an educational experience and exposes children of all ages to animals they would not otherwise come into contact with. Hopefully when they grow up they will advocate for them. This time of the year, less animal are out, but there are always enough for us to enjoy.

Rest rooms are available throughout the park.

MEET: AT PARKING LOT 6, THE FIRST LOT ON YOUR RIGHT WHEN COMING IN FROM THE ENTRANCE ON FOREST AVE. See maps at: https://www.friendsofbergencountyzoo.org/zoo-park-map

Optional early dinner, snacks or refreshments, if enough interest at the River Edge Diner at 516 Kinderkamack Rd., River Edge a short drive from the park.

Inclement weather cancels. Always check the day of an event for possible updates.
