This mixed surface is part of the RMCC Challenge Series (https://www.rockymountaincyclingclub.com/rmcc-challenge-series).
Join us for the queen stage of our 2025 Challenge Series! We'll meet at the Lookout Mountain Parking Lot at 7:15 for a 7:30 departure. The course features 5 distinct climbs:
- Lookout/Genesee (1700 ft).
- Juniper Pass to Echo Lake (3300 feet).
- Virgina Canyon/"Oh My God Road" (1800 feet -- unpaved)
- Dory Hill (1200 feet -- unpaved)
- Drew Hill/Crawford Gulch (800 feet -- partially unpaved)
The total route is 81 miles with 10,400 feet of climbing. The riding is difficult but the views are relentlessly spectacular!

Regroup Points:
-King Soopers Gas Station in Bergen Park (mile 13)
-Maverik Gas Station in Idaho Springs (mile 45)
-Eagle Convenience Store in Blackhawk (if needed - mile 55)
-Golden Gate Canyon Park Visitor Center (mile 65)Notes:
-If you're looking for a shorter option, the recommended approach is to return back from Echo Lake which would give you 64 miles. Shortcutting from Idaho Springs requires use of a shuttle (which may or may not be running) through the Floyd Hill construction.-Tire recommendation: This ride is overwhelmingly paved but we do have 3 climbs on relatively high quality dirt roads. 32-35 mm is probably the sweet spot here, but it's rideable on standard 28s. Full gravel tires are overkill and are only recommended if you need to be slowed down. :)
-We will regroup on a semi-regular basis along the way, as well as at the regroup points. However, like all RMCC rides this should be considered a drop ride.
Non-dues-paying members are welcome and invited to join us on any ride! After three rides we do ask that you join the club: https://www.rockymountaincyclingclub.com/rmcc-membership-application-form
- Golden/Bergen Park/Saddleback/Grapevine (RMCC Road ride)Beverly Heights Park, Golden, CO
This ride takes many of the best roads in the Golden/Bergen Park/Evergreen area to make for a great day of climbing! We will climb Lookout, Floyd Hill, Saddleback, Soda Creek, and Grapevine. The route is setup to avoid as much car traffic as possible. This route may include some roads you haven't ridden before, but if you've done a version of this ride in the past, you'll remember how much fun it is!
We will meet at Beverly Heights Park at the base on Lookout at 7:45 with wheels turning by 8:00 at the latest. The total route is 51 miles with 6500 feet of vertical. So not super long, but all quality miles!
