What we’re about
This is the home of Ruby Users of Minnesota — a fine group of Ruby enthusiasts from around the Twin Cities metro area, or pretty much wherever they feel like driving from. Our group meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 PM.

Oct 21st Ruby.MN: Saving the history of the 90s web
Lab651, 550 Vandalia St Suite 231, St Paul, MN, USJoin us on the 3rd Tuesday October 21st for the next ruby.mn meetup. Doors open around 6:30pm and we'll kick off a talk around 7:00pm.
Kyle Drake will talk about Saving the history of the 90s web!
Storage is cheap, but we suck at presentation. We've archived gobs of the history of the 90s web (GeoCities, MySpace), but it's all mothballed in hard to surf archives. I'm going to show how we used ruby's powerful web tooling to bring these lost sites back to life so people can actually look at them, and maybe inspire you to take up a restoration project of your own.
restorativland.org is a project to excavate shut down, abandoned web ruins and restore them to surfable, visually accessible, searchable, remixable condition. Somewhere between a library and a living museum, we're working on experimental new ways to close the gap between archival and visibility of the web that was lost.
