Join us for one of our most popular hikes of the season, Fabulous Fungi at Deer Creek Hills!

Show yourself some love this Valentine’s Day by growing your naturalist knowledge and learning about some very fun guys (fungi). We’ll meander through blue oak and interior live oak groves in search of the fruiting bodies of fungi - aka mushrooms.

Our knowledgeable docents will share their discoveries from earlier in the week and introduce the basics of mushroom identification. Participants will also receive a short informational handout with resources for learning more about fungi. With only about 7% of mushroom species identified, there’s a whole hidden world waiting to be explored!

Important note: Deer Creek Hills is a preserve, and this is not a mushroom foraging hike. If you spot a mushroom along the way, please leave it in place and alert a docent so everyone can enjoy it in its natural setting.
