This is a casual, friendly open mic at a popular neighborhood bar. Mostly acoustic music, but open to comedy or spoken word. 21+. No covers.
Please read the expectations below. You will probably find answers to your questions:
OPEN MIC EXPECTATIONS
SET UP/PLAY WITHIN YOUR ALLOTTED TIME:
- Sets are 3 songs (15 min. maximum.) Host may extend sets as needed.
- Use the two mics, two instrument cables, and speakers provided. If you have other equipment, Host may or may not be able to accommodate you.
- Tune and be ready to go when it is your turn.
- Due to past problems, the host will not lend his guitar.
- No full drum kits. This is an acoustic open mic. Hand percussion is welcome.
CONSIDER YOUR AUDIENCE:
- We aren’t limited to specific genres, but the overall “vibe” is folk, blues, country, soul, pop, etc.
- Covers and originals are allowed.
- Spoken word performances are allowed, but might not go over well at this open mic. Read the room.
- If you play music that involves loud screaming, is long and repetitive, has lyrics that might be offensive to a reasonable person, or is noisy and “alternative,” please find an open mic that caters to your style.
- Host will not let you play if you are intoxicated.
- Avoid political speeches or religious preaching.
- This is not a listening room, so patrons will visit with friends, etc. during your performance.
- Treat staff with respect. Support the house by purchasing food or drink.
RESPECT OTHER PERFORMERS:
- Refrain from jamming along with performers unless they invite you on stage.
- Don’t play loud audio or music on your phone during performances.
