RAG from the Playground Up @ Gofore

In this session, we’ll build a basic Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) setup from scratch. The goal is to connect an AI tool and data source of your choice, such that the tool’s responses take your provided external information into account.

What Will We Do?
We’ll work in small groups or pairs to create a simple RAG pipeline. This includes steps such as chunking data, embedding it, storing it in a vector index, and using it during prompting. The focus is on getting a first version up and running, even if some parts are still rough or incomplete.
This will be a practical session with room for questions and discussion along the way.

What Should I Bring?
· A laptop with a working development setup of your choice
· Some interest in how AI systems can use external information
· Optionally: a small dataset or document set you'd like to try out

A scaffold setup will be provided to help us all get started during the session. If you want to integrate against any specific AI tool, that will also be possible.

Who Can Join?
Anyone who wants to understand the basics of RAG. No prior experience required – we'll work through it together and provide a (very quick) introduction.
