Fog + Neon: A San Francisco Night Photo Walk

Details
August in San Francisco means one thing: Fogust — when the marine layer rolls in thick, streetlights halo, and neon signs glow like beacons in the mist.
On this photo walk, we’ll chase that cinematic mix of fog, neon, and nighttime street life. Expect a compact, walkable route with plenty of lit storefronts, colorful signage, and a few inviting bars where we can warm up and share shots (the photo kind and the liquid kind).
We’ll keep the exact location TBD until the week of the event, so we can pick the neighborhood with the best fog and neon combination — think vintage marquees, glowing tavern signs, and streets that disappear into the mist.
What to bring
• Camera of choice (DSLR, mirrorless, film, or even your phone)
• Tripod or monopod if you like shooting long exposures
• Jacket — Fogust nights are chilly
• Cash/card for drinks or snacks
• Comfortable shoes for walking 6–8 blocks
Schedule
7:00 PM – Meet at the announced starting point (TBD)
7:15 PM – 9:00 PM – Photo walk through our chosen fog + neon route
9:00 PM – late – Optional group stop at a local bar to warm up, share photos, and talk shop
How we’ll choose the location
We’re scouting several SF neighborhoods known for their glowing signs and walkable clusters—think Richmond and Sunset. The final choice will depend on where the fog is best in the days leading up to the event. Put it on your calendars and we’ll post an update announcement by Wednesday, August 27.
