Overview: Urban walk around Coronado. About 7 miles, duration 2:45 hours. Very flat, mostly sidewalk, some beach. This is not a casual stroll ... we'll be walking briskly, about 3 mph ... Route shown in Photo section below.

Route: Start at Glorietta Bay Marina, and walk thru the mansions on Margarita Avenue, then under the Coronado bridge to Tidelands park. Follow the coast to the Coronado Ferry dock, where we'll have a great view of downtown San Diego. South down Orange Avenue (the main shopping street) then through Star Park (more mansions) and to the beach. East on the beach past the sand dunes that spell-out "Coronado Beach" (visible from aerial views). Then we'll walk through the grounds of Hotel Del Coronado. Finally, through the controversial Coronado Shores condominiums, and back to our starting point. Lots of cafes in & around Hotel Del for those that want to grab coffee afterwards.

Hazards: We'll be crossing several busy intersections, so you must have good traffic awareness.

Start time: Meet at 9:00am, start walking promptly at 9:05am.

Where: Glorietta Bay Marina, 1715 Strand Way, Coronado. Free parking at Glorietta Bay Marina, 1715 Strand Way, Coronado (okay to park in any spots, even the ones painted green). Also, more free parking farther south at 1825 Strand Way. Also in the free public parking lot on Avenue De Las Arenas.

Driving notes: Coronado streets can be very confusing to newcomers!! If you are not familiar with Coronado, you should allow for extra driving time. The Coronado bridge is free (no toll). We are meeting on Strand Way, which is a small frontage road (don't confuse it with Silver Strand Blvd, which is a large road).

Bring a positive attitude! This is a friendly, welcoming event. No negative energy allowed :-)

Restrooms: At start/end of walk in Coronado Community Center. Mid-walk in Tidelands Park and Coronado Ferry dock. Dogs: The City of Coronado does not permit dogs on portions of this walk.
