What we’re about
Welcome to Adventure People! This group is for everyone who loves to hike, kayak, rock climb, and anything that gets us outdoors. We have a great team of organizers who schedule local outdoor activities, social events, and weekend camping trips. We also do small group trips to destinations around the world.
Some of the things we've done include watching the Northern Lights in Iceland, hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, rappelling down waterfalls in Costa Rica, trekking on a glacier in Argentina, hiking the W Trek in Chile, climbing a volcano in Hawaii, visiting the country's national parks, exploring the world's most spectacular caves in Vietnam, salsa dancing lessons in Cuba, and that's just a few.
Adventure People all have one thing in common, we want to travel the world and have fun doing it. We're explorers, not tourists. Regardless of where you go and what you do, it's the people you share the experience with that you'll remember the most. What you'll find in Adventure People is that we're a fun, active, adventurous, welcoming group of friends. By joining our community and participating in our local and international trips, you'll not only have a new group of friends but new travel companions with whom you'll want to share more experiences. That's why you'll always see repeat travelers on all of our trips!

See all- Sun Setting from Gaviota Peak, via Trespass Trail, Night Descent with HeadlightGaviota Peak Trailhead, Goleta, CA
Gaviota Peak, at 2461’ elevation, quite often peaks just above the marine layer rolling in from the Pacific, providing a unique and spectacular sun setting view. Last October, I had one of the most amazing experiences of viewing Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-Atlas) at this peak.

Sespe Wilderness is a pristine and beautiful area north of Ojai. About 2 months ago, I hiked with a group from Santa Clarita Valley, to Bear Creek Camp, using the Sespe River Trail. After the social hike, I partially explored the large boulder formations of Piedra Blanca.
For this trip, I mainly want to climb the large boulder formations, explore Piedra Blanca more thoroughly, and hike the trail to Piedra Blanca Camp and Pine Mountain Lodge Camp. On a future trip, I want to explore all the way to Willett Hot Springs, Sespe Hot Springs, Sespe River & Piedra Blanca Creek.
Temperature in this area could be hot to some people. I would continue to hike & explore in 95F weather. Tripping & falling off the boulder could be deadly.

(No software or download is needed, just open a browser) - Franklin Trail, Super Easy 20 Mile 6200’ Climb, Night Descent, A Mundane HikeFranklin Trail , Carpinteria , CA
The Franklin Trail in Carpinteria, ascends 4000’ in about 8 miles to the mountain top ridgeline, then descends down to Santa Ynez River and Lake Jameson in the back country, passing by Alder Creek Camp.
In January this year, after a 5.8 mile walk with a group at Carpinteria Bluff, I solo hiked the Franklin Trail to the mountain top for sun setting, and descended in the dark with headlight. I have been wanting to hike the entire 20 mile stretch, curious to see and explore Santa Ynez River, Lake Jameson, and the back country.
The temperature in this area could be hot to some people. I would continue to hike & explore in 95F weather.
This hike is only for those that can handle the physical & mental demand, and have effective outdoor survival skills. Equipped and prepared to descend the trail and back to civilization late at night with headlight. This is most likely a once in a lifetime adventure for me. Something I want to do once and don’t plan to be back there again. There are just too many other beautiful wilderness to explore on this amazing living planet. For those who choose to join, I think this is also a once in a lifetime adventure opportunity.
Adding a 50lb backpack, this hike is also a great conditioning hike for other more challenging places such as Mt Whitney, Tahoe Rim Trail, JMT, PCT, and K2.
Fellow hikers & explorers that meet the criteria below for experience, skill, ability, personality, character, and mindset, are very welcomed to join.
Link to a very basic video on Franklin Trail in January, from my last trip there. Since then I am getting slightly better with making videos.
