Estimated 13 miles, 3500’ of climb & descent. This socializing hike & exploring in beautiful nature would be a great workout for most people. Some fun scrambling and boulder climbing on the way to Broadcast Peak.
Both Broadcast and Santa Ynez Peaks are over 4000’ above sea level, and most often peaking above marine layer dense fog, providing spectacular sunsets even when it is fogging or cloudy on the coastline and Santa Barbara. Therefore this location is also great for comet viewing. At 4298’ above sea level, Santa Ynez Peak is the most prominent peak in this vicinity.

On top of the ridgeline, the views of the Pacific, Goleta, Santa Barbara and Lake Cachuma are very spectacular. The last time I was up there was in Oct last year, for Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS). This time it would be for Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) and lots of workouts in beautiful nature.
