Utopian Picnic

Details

Join us for a relaxing and inspiring picnic in the beautiful Carlton Gardens! This is an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who share an interest in envisioning a utopian future.

We will be near the western pond in a shady spot. There is a public toilet nearby.

### What to Bring:

  • Your favorite snacks or picnic foods/drinks to share (optional, but always appreciated).
  • something to sit on
  • Any creative items to spark ideas, such as books, sketches, or notebooks.

### Activities:

  1. Picnic by the Pond: Enjoy snacks and friendly conversation under the shade of the trees. Ducks are welcome guests, too!
  2. Utopian Discussions: Take turns sharing visions for a better world—topics can range from technology and ethics to art and sustainability. Perhaps we will do some collaborative brainstorming to explore creative ideas for building a brighter future.

Backup Plan (Hot Weather): If it’s too warm, we’ll move to the airy, comfortable atrium of the Melbourne Museum nearby. There, we can sit together, chat, and continue the fun.
This is a casual, inclusive meetup—come as you are, whether you want to discuss grand ideas or just relax and listen. Everyone is welcome!

This is in association with EA Melbourne, and an ad-hoc book club in which a few of us got together and discussed 'Deep Utopia' by Nick Bostrom.
