Moderate: Achneshellach/Torridon trek
Details
2 days of moderate walking with a sunday night stay in the Torridon Youth Hostel. This circular route is mainly on rights of way and old drover paths and includes 2 mountain passes. There's no mountain summits etc included. Hopefully great torridon hills views and we pass some nice lochans on the route.
Folk are more than welcome to come along if they just fancy an 'out and back' one day walk instead. Hopefully in this area lol.
Torridon hostel is on the NC500 route and..... BEDS SELL OUT FAST. It supplies all bedding and offers evening meals, breakfast and packed lunches etc if reqd also. The link to book is at Torridon Youth Hostel, Torridon.
As at 23/9 there's 8 male beds and i believe 6 female beds available. There's also 1 or 2 large family rooms. (The hostel is on Booking.com also, which does not though show full number of beds available). There's maybe Air B n B's available nearby if you prefer.
Dogs welcome - however please note the Youth hostel only allows dogs in their larger private rooms.
Meeting point Achneshellach meeting point (In the trees on main A890 road, near train station entrance).
From the meeting point we'll take 1 or 2 cars four miles south to the walk start point- at Coulags.
After the walk, for anyone wanting to stay on in the area on monday night, i'm staying at Ledgowan Bunk-house (nice bunk-house, some single rooms are available, a sleeping bag is required). I'll probably do a walk on the tuesday but not sure where yet.
Weather forecast: as the walk is lower level, unless the forecast is really bad, it'll go ahead. For any queries on the day 07901 987769.
