Once again the Seattle Rationalist, Effective Altruist, and Rhizomia Network Communities are hosting an event that members of our community might be interested in: a secular celebration of the winter solstice!

Tickets are required. Feel free to RSVP here to let your fellow Atheist Church folks know you're planning on going, but do follow the link above to get your tickets.

From their description:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A celebration of humanity's light in the darkest time of year.

Join us for an evening of songs, stories, and community as we gather to reflect on our place in history and our power to build a better future together.

## What to Expect

Our celebration follows the arc of the solstice itself, moving from light to darkness to light again:

  • Light: We begin with humanity's triumphs and accomplishments, celebrating how we've used reason and compassion to understand the universe and help each other.
  • Darkness: We acknowledge the struggles we've endured, the uncertainties we face, and the very real risks that lie ahead.
  • Dawn: We conclude with hope and resolve, recognizing the promise of humanity and that, together, we can overcome the challenges before us.

Through music, readings, candlelight, and shared presence, we'll mark the turning of the year and renew our commitment to each other and the future.

## About Solstice

Secular Solstice gatherings happen in cities worldwide, inspired by Raymond Arnold's "Brighter Than Today" tradition. These events create space for reflection, connection, and hope in a community that values evidence, reason, and humanity. Learn more at secularsolstice.com.
