Details

Quorum: 3-4 players + facilitator.

Before you RSVP: Please read all event details. To confirm your spot, send a quick Discord message to @kcrobinson.

Timing: The meetup begins promptly at 5:45pm to allow for introductions with the game starting very soon after. The venue has a hard stop at 8:00pm, so we will be moving at a brisk but comfortable pace. Anyone who wants to keep chatting or wrap up loose narrative threads is welcome to join me afterward for drinks nearby.

New players are absolutely welcome.
Fiasco is a zero-prep, rules-light storytelling game. There are no character sheets, no dice sets to pack, no materials needed. Everything is created collaboratively at the table, and the entire story plays out in a single session.

This event uses the newer card-driven “board game” version of Fiasco, which streamlines play and makes it especially friendly to first-timers.

# The Pitch

Fiasco is a game about ordinary people with big ambitions and bad impulse control. Think the energy of Fargo, Burn After Reading, or any story where a simple scheme spirals into wild consequences. Characters make bold choices, complications snowball, and the group watches everything unravel in spectacular fashion.

There’s no GM. Everyone shares the job of framing scenes, playing side characters, and steering the chaos. I’ll act as facilitator to keep things moving, especially with our time window, but the narrative belongs to everyone at the table.

Each session is fully standalone. We’ll pick a playset together at the table, which determines the genre, tone, and story seeds. Playsets can range from quiet suburban drama to mall-rat mischief to catastrophic fantasy quests. If you have a playset of your own, feel free to bring it and let me know ahead of time.

Playsets I currently own:

  • Tales from Suburbia (small-town tensions and buried secrets)
  • Poppleton Mall (tales from retail hell, after-hours schemes)
  • Dragon Slayers (fantasy adventurers with dubious judgment)

## What to Bring

Nothing at all.

Just bring yourself and a willingness to lean into messy choices and improvisation. If you enjoy taking notes, a phone or notepad is fine, but completely optional.

## How to Prepare

  • RSVP to the event.
  • Send a confirmation message to @kcrobinson on Discord.
  • That’s it. No rules reading, no character creation, no prep required.

If you want a taste beforehand, feel free to skim a Fiasco rules overview, but it’s by no means necessary.
