Details

This is the first hike in a multi-part series which forms a circle around the northern part of lake Washington between highway 520 and Kenmore, over the course of several months.

Today's hike covers the section between UW Station and Magnuson Park. Rather than just following the Burke-Gilman trail all the way (boring), our route does some meandering through Union Bay, Yesler Swamp, Laurelhurst, plus a loop through Magnuson Park, itself. The final section of the hike passes the Magnuson off-leash dog area. Dogs are welcome (dogs must be on a leash when outside of this area). Our endpoint is served by bus routes 62 (to Roosevelt/Green Lake/Fremont) and 75 (to UW campus, back to our starting point) for the trip home.

We will take a lunch break at Laurelhurst Park, which is approximately the midpoint of the hike - please bring food.
