Join us on Sunday, August 3rd at Madrona Park for the annual Seattle Indies Summer Picnic! You're welcome to bring kids, family, friends, and pets along as well.

We're doing things a bit differently this year and having some food trucks available for you purchase food from along with providing some grilled food in the earlier part of the day. The event has become so popular that is getting harder for us to provide the quantity necessary and ensure food safety for everyone so we are supplementing with food trucks.

There will be lawn games like bocce, cornhole, badminton, and more. You can also bring your own games for friends to play! If the weather doesn't cooperate, we can hide in the shelter instead.

NOTE: Alcohol is not permitted at the park.

Lunch: 1pm-3pm

Do I have to RSVP to attend?
Sign-ups are not required but help us estimate the number of attendees to determine how much food and drink to bring.

Shelter 1 at Madrona Park
The picnic will be held at Shelter 1 in Madrona Park in Seattle, just east of the restroom.

Due to technical constraints, the location that Meetup presents is close, but quite not the exact location of the shelter.

Parking
The nearest parking lot is available south of the picnic shelter with entrances along Lake Washington Blvd. If that happens to be full, you can try the one further down, next to the marina.

Transit

The #2 bus comes closest to the park and stops about a five minute walk away at the corner of Newport Way and Madrona Dr

GeekFest West - Game Expo - 2025 is the ultimate Geek Festival, taking place over three days with three main areas. The first is the Angel of the Winds Arena itself, it will have board Game Rentals, Private Suites for Community Meetups, Guest Speakers, Panels, Lecture Series, Workshops, a DEDICATED Gameboard and Card Game Area, Card and Board Game Tournaments, a Retro Video Game console free Play, Vendors, Booths, Special After Hour Events, and the "GEEKAPALOOZA" Film Event. On Hewitt Ave outside the arena, there is the Street Festival with food and other vendors, Peaks Entertainment Wrestling, and more! Finally, up the street is the Everett Historic Theater, where we will be showing retro sci-fi classics, with each day having different retro movies.

Hang out at a local game store with fellow Snohomish Co and adjacent folks over food, drinks, engaging conversations, and maybe some board gaming!

If you want to demo/playtest your game, let me know and I'll make sure there table space + open outlet for your setup.

Curious how to start learning something? Want to chat with someone of another discipline? Need a place to work on a project and share it with others? ISG is a social, game development focused work group that encourages people of all skill levels and disciplines to come together and collaborate for the benefit of all.

This is a great place to begin your game development journey and learn from fellow game creators as they work on their projects.

To attend, you must be fully vaccinated (second shot received by October 5th). Note that you will need to bring proof of vaccination (a photo on your phone is okay) and identification.

Bring your laptop and any software you will need to work on your game/art/music.

How it Works:

• Show up, introduce yourself, let everyone know what you hope to accomplish

• Ask for help with anything, get to know others, share your projects, or enjoy the company of others as you work!

• Share your highs and lows, high fives all around

How to find us:
It can be kind of hard to find us! We are on the 4th floor of the Armory building. Follow the signs to the restrooms, and nearby you'll find the stairs and the elevator. Take one of those to the fourth floor and look for the Seattle Indies banner.

Accessibility information:
There is paid street parking all around the neighborhood. There are paid parking garages at 516 Harrison St, 650 3rd Ave N, and at the corner of 5th Ave N and Harrison St. The Seattle Center has nearby bus stops serviced by the 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 13, 15, 17, 18, 19, 24, 32, 33, D Line, and the monorail. The venue is listed as wheelchair accessible. The Seattle Center has additional accessibility information available on their website here: http://www.seattlecenter.com/about/accessibility.aspx

If you are coming by Light Rail it is best to get off at Westlake Station and then ride the Monorail over to the Seattle Center which drops you off right at the Armory.
