If you never witnessed a full moon rise over the Mogollon Rim from Yavapai Vista, you are in for a special treat.

There is a short 1/4 mile hike from the parking area to the slickrock area where we will be sitting to watch the moonrise. You need to bring a lightweight chair or blanket for sitting, and a jacket for staying warm after the sunset. You're welcome to bring food and drink as well. After all, it's a celebration of cooler times ahead.

Be there by about 5:15pm, in order to get a parking spot and meet with the group. We will leave the parking lot promptly at 5:30pm to get up to the viewing area to see the sunlight on the rim and the moon coming up about an hour later. We'll meet by the information sign at the trail head.

Officially, you need a parking pass to park in the lot. The national park pass is good as well. There is a pit toilet there. Bring a flashlight in addition to your phone.

The weather should be clear and cool.

You and you alone are responsible for your own safety and ability to make this short hike and returning to your vehicle in the moonlight.
