What we’re about
This group is for adults who like to hike, snowshoe, x-country ski, kayak, canoe, bicycle and pursue other outdoor activities. We will focus these activities in the Shawangunk Mountains and in other Hudson Valley locations like the Catskills, Taconics, Hudson Highlands on both sides of the river, and other areas we find interesting. Hikes and other activities will range from easy to difficult. The pace may be slow, moderate or even somewhat brisk (depending on your fitness level and experience), but our coordinators will attempt to make certain that everyone finishes as part of the group.

Elevation gain is @580 feet. This hike will include a gradual climb to the viewpoint.Please join us on this beautiful country hike. This has become one of our favorite outings. This hike is located in Dover, NY. Dover Stone Preserve is a nature preserve whose highlight is a stunning rock formation and waterfall in a cave. It was used by Native Americans as a hideout in the 17th century. Dover Stone Church's highlight is a metamorphic rock cavern in the shape of a church’s cathedral window with a cascading waterfall through the cave’s interior. This will be @4 mile moderately difficult hike. You should be an active person in good cardio shape to be able to climb the hill up to the viewpoint. We will park in the Dover Elementary School parking lot located at the corner of Route 22 & School Street. If you cannot make the hike and want to meet us at the winery that’s fine too! We usually arrive at the winery between 1:00-1:30.

After the hike we will take a beautiful scenic drive to Millbrook Vineyards & Winery in Millbrook, NY. Enjoy beautiful Catskills views while drinking exquisite wine. The winery has seating on their various decks, picnic tables down by the pond or we can set up our chairs and blankets on the lawn. The winery allows patrons to bring in their own food so please feel free to bring a picnic lunch and enough to share with others. The Winery will have food trucks on property as well. Millbrook Winery is located at 26 Wing Rd., Millbrook, NY, 12545. The winery is approximately a 20-minute country drive from the hike.

We are a social group that values laughter, good conversation, and comradery. That being said, our participants need to be active people who hike on a regular basis. Please be able to hike at a relaxed to moderate 1.8 - 2.0 mph pace. Please bring maps, wear hiking boots, first aid supplies, snacks and lots of water. IF YOU HAVE A NEED FOR SPEED THIS IS NOT THE HIKE FOR YOU.
