This session's main talk will be by Jon Oswald on Modern Data Architectures: From Warehouses to Lakehouses. Data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouses all play a role in modern data platforms. Warehouses excel at structured, reliable reporting, while data lakes are ideal for storing large amounts of raw, varied data. Lakehouses combine elements of both, offering flexibility for analytics and AI. The challenge for organisations is choosing the right approach: modernise with lakehouses, or continue with trusted warehouse solutions. The answer depends on the use case, and we’ll explore the pros and cons of each.
