Join Shorewalkers and our friends from the Inwood Canoe Club for a shoreline cleanup, followed by a 5 mile walk along the beautiful Hudson River shoreline!
MEET:
- Time: 10:00am
- Location: in front of Starbucks outside the A train stop at Dyckman Street.
- Directions: To get there, take the A train or #1 train. Please allow extra time for weekend subway travel.
We will leave promptly at 10:00am to walk to the bathrooms at the Anne Loftus Playground. From there, we proceed directly to the Canoe Club for the cleanup starting at 10:30.
If you are running late, go directly to the Canoe Club boat house:
- Address: 360 Dyckman Street. Walk west on Dyckman Street to the Hudson River (Hudson Restaurant at the end), then follow the Greenway path south to the Canoe Club. The club is marked on Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/WxZVW6EuFkpRZCdp9
CLEANUP:
The Inwood Canoe Club - Manhattan's oldest canoe and kayak club, founded in 1902 - has been organizing river cleanups for years.
We will collect trash along the Greenway path for about 1.5 hours.
- Trash bags, latex gloves and grabbers will be provided.
- You are welcome to bring your own work gloves and grabber if you prefer.
WAIVER:
All participants must complete a waiver to join the cleanup: https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/w/dp9y2ldpwkdtckpb2yfquc/web/
WALK:
After the cleanup, we'll enjoy a scenic walk through Inwood Hill Park and stop for lunch near Isham St and the Saturday farmers market. We’ll then continue south along the Hudson River Greenway, finishing at the 145th Street subway station (1 train - with A,B,C,D close by).
GOOD TO KNOW:
- Bring water and lunch.
- Wear sneakers or sturdy shoes (we will not enter the river to remove trash).
- In case of thunderstorm or extreme heat, the Inwood Canoe Club will make a cancellation decision closer to the event date.
