Stock Ghyll Force Waterfall & Wansfell Summit | Lake District | 7km

Details
Join us on Sunday 24th August for a half-day adventure in the Lake District, mixing iconic Ambleside sights with one of the best bang-for-your-buck viewpoints in the Lakes — Wansfell Pike.
THIS IS A PAID FOR EVENT. BOOK VIA THE ROSA WEBSITE: https://www.rayofsunadventures.com/event-details-registration/stock-ghyll-force
We’ll start with some picture-perfect town wanderings, ticking off the Insta-famous Bridge House, then stretch our legs with a visit to the tumbling Stock Ghyll Force waterfall. From there, it’s a steady (okay… steep) climb to the 484m summit of Wansfell Pike, where views explode in every direction — Windermere glistening below, rugged peaks rolling off into the distance, and Ambleside looking like a postcard. We’ll then drop back into town where you can join for an optional pub lunch or grab a coffee and sit lakeside.
If you fancy a walk that’s short, sweet, and seriously scenic — this one’s for you.
### Why Join?
It’s not just a walk — it’s a little slice of Lakeland magic:
📸 Visit the legendary Bridge House (yes, the one that fills Instagram feeds)
💦 Stand in awe at Stock Ghyll Force waterfall
🥾 Summit Wansfell Pike (484m) for mega views over the central fells
🤗 Meet fab people and share a morning full of fresh air and smiles
🍺 Finish with an optional pub lunch or lakeside chill

🌊 Stock Ghyll Force – A gorgeous, multi-tiered waterfall hidden in the woods just above Ambleside.

Why stop at one walk when you can have two epic adventures over the August Bank Holiday?
🗓 Saturday 23rd August, we’ll take on the legendary Fairfield Horseshoe — a full-day Lakeland epic with 8 Wainwrights, ridge walks for days, and views you’ll still be dreaming about on Monday. Book here: https://www.rayofsunadventures.com/event-details-registration/the-fairfield-horseshoe
🗓 Sunday 24th August, we’ll dial it back (but keep the views high) with a half-day wander up Wansfell Pike — ticking off Ambleside’s most iconic sights, a waterfall, and a summit that punches well above its weight. Book here:
It’s the perfect weekend combo: one big mountain adventure followed by a shorter scenic hike, leaving plenty of time for lakeside lounging, coffee sipping, or pub hopping in between.
I’ll be staying at the YHA Ambleside — a friendly, budget-friendly hostel right on the lake — and you’re welcome to join me there for cheap, cheerful accommodation. There are also plenty of cosy B&Bs, guesthouses, and hotels in town if you fancy a little extra comfort.
Book both walks, make a weekend of it, and turn late August into your own mini Lake District escape.
### Who will be your guide?
Hi, I’m Janire — a fully qualified and insured Mountain Leader, founder of Ray of Sun Adventures, and general enthusiast for all things outdoorsy (bonus points if there’s cake involved at the end). Based in Shropshire but often found roaming the hills of the Lakes, I’m all about helping people discover their adventurous side in a friendly, no-pressure way.
On this relaxed but rewarding Lakeland outing, I’ll be there to lead the way, share local tales, and make sure everyone feels comfortable — whether you’re a confident hiker or trying your first proper fell. Together, we’ll soak up the views, enjoy a few laughs, and embrace that glorious summer-in-the-mountains feeling.
