Shut Up & Write!® at the Library

Details
Join Leanna and other writers for 120 minutes of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 2:30 pm on Saturday afternoons.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us.
No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
SCHEDULE:
2:30 - Quick introductions
2:40 - Timer starts: write for 120 minutes
4:25 - Check outs--How did it go?
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 4:30 pm. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
BEING LATE IS OKAY: just pull up and start writing, then check-in with us after the session. If you were on time, please be willing to make room for friendly latecomers.
Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you at the Library!
What Should I Bring?
Whatever you need to be able to write! I recommend a fully charged laptop, if possible. There may be chargers available, depending on seating location.
Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the noise/conversation by other patrons. There are children's programs and clubs that can get quite rowdy, at times. Please keep that in mind.
Other Important Details: The library has free wifi. If you're unsure how to connect, just ask.
TRAVEL / PARKING:
*There is street parking or underground parking .
*There's also a bus stop nearby at Victoria and Albert (outside of Bastion Pizza and across the street). Also, the main transit hub is at Port Place Centre.
SEATING INFORMATION: This is our last Saturday meeting. We will be meeting in the general area this week, before returning to a meeting room. I am going to try and snag the 2 tables on the 1st floor by the large windows. If I’m unsuccessful, I will then grab a table or 2 on the 2nd floor, to the left of the top of the stairs. Look for the SHUT UP AND WRITE sign.
GUIDELINES: Please thank our hosts by respecting the other patrons and by following proper library etiquette.
**Please join the Discord Server for updates on events and for other information. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you! **
Invitation from Renée Meloche:
Hi everyone, in order to connect more easily outside of the Meetup site, we are piloting a Discord server (like a combination group chat/forum) for our members). If you're interested in joining, please click this link: https://discord.gg/QEVjRKz8Fz
- Thanks and hope to see you in the Discord server!

Every week on Saturday until September 19, 2025
