Let's get o'ur dogs out and explore Camp Milton Historic Preserve. You don't have to have a dog to attend. This is also an ADA friendly hike so you can attend if you are in a wheelchair.

This 2.1 mile shady hike along mostly paved and boardwalk trails will take us around the interior of Camp Milton, which was a Confederate camp during the Civil War. There are historic trees with signage, farmhouse, interpretive/educational center, and historic reenactment field.

There is one small section on a dirt path along McGirts Creek. A bathroom is located along the trail.

The park opens at 9:00 and plan to start walking at 9:15. We will meet at the trail head, which is located inside the ample parking lot. There is no fee to park or enter. Our pace will be leisurely as we stop to read historical information and observe historical areas.

Dogs in attendance must be on a leash and well mannered at all times.

Cancellation Policy: Event will be held rain or shine but may be cancelled if weather threatens safety such as in the case of lightning or high winds in the forecast. Also, if the heat index is forecast to be over 103, then the outing will be cancelled. Participants are advised to check Meetup for current status before traveling to the event. Events may need to be cancelled at short notice.
* Help the environment by following these tips: Bring your water in a reusable container instead of a single-use plastic bottle. Use sunscreen free oxybenzone and oxtinoxate. These chemicals are extremely harmful to coral reefs, as well as being hormone disruptors in humans.
Sierra Club maintains a safe space agreement between participants, leaders, volunteers, and staff. They want to support everyone and exploring, enjoying, and protecting our natural environment, and hateful and dangerous behavior will not be tolerated. We don't want to deny participation in these outdoor programs, and we will always say no to racism, sexism, ageism, homophobia, impairment, and disruption. We request that all participants cooperate with the outings leaders direction to ensure a safe and enjoyable outing for everyone.
