Due to the small size of Native Park, the program will be limited to the first 12 people who sign up. RSVP here on Meetup.

Join your Sierra Club and Jody Willis, Chair of IXIA Native Plant Society, in a walk and talk with optional weeding of the park afterwards. During the walk of the park, Jody will identify the native plants and explain why native plants are essential to wildlife species as pollinators can only reproduce on native plants. For example, our native oaks are home to 500 species of moths and butterflies.

Pollinators are totally dependent upon the native plants they have been using for thousands of years and unlike humans, they do not adapt to using nonnative plants. What we are looking at is this critical formula:
No native plants = no insects
No insects = no birds

Check out NEFL Sierra Club’s Planting with a Purpose series to learn more and locate our native plant nurseries. Our wildlife are depending on you.
