Psychedelics & Chronic Pain: Emerging Clinical Perspectives
Details
Chronic pain is a complex, multifaceted condition that often extends beyond physical symptoms—intersecting with emotional health, neurological function, and overall quality of life. As limitations of conventional treatments persist, there is growing interest in the potential role of psychedelic therapies in addressing both the physical and psychological dimensions of pain.
In this webinar, we’ll explore emerging clinical perspectives and research on psychedelics and chronic pain. The discussion will be grounded in both scientific literature and lived clinical experience, including insights drawn from participation in an New York University psilocybin trial and work with veterans navigating complex, treatment-resistant pain.
ZOOM LINK WILL BE SENT UPON REGISTRATION
Topics will include:
- The relationship between chronic pain and mental health, including their bidirectional influence
- An overview of historical and current research on psychedelics in pain treatment
- Proposed mechanisms of action, including effects on perception, neural networks, and emotional processing
- Findings from recent and ongoing studies
- Case examples across different chronic pain conditions
- The potential role of psychedelics as catalysts that enhance other therapeutic approaches, including physiotherapy and neurorehabilitation
This session is designed for clinicians, practitioners, and those interested in a thoughtful, evidence-informed exploration of emerging approaches to pain care.
Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of how psychedelic therapies are being investigated in the context of chronic pain—and the possibilities and limitations that shape this evolving field.

A former chronic pain sufferer, Court Wing is the founder and CEO of REMAP Therapeutics and a co-founder of the Psychedelics & Pain Association. REMAP Therapeutics is devoted to the development of formal psychedelic rehabilitation sessions and cohesive best practices for many treatment-resistant chronic pain conditions. Court is an accomplished performance and pain professional with over 14 years of formal Ki-Aikido study and 30 years of experience in maximizing the athletic performance of his clients, helping countless individuals overcome injury to return to competition and daily life. He is a certified Z-Health Master Trainer and was co-founder of NYC’s first CrossFit.
In 2020, Court was a study participant in NYU’s clinical trial of Psilocybin for Major Depressive Disorder. By the end of his “dosing” day in the trial, he was in full remission, no longer qualifying for the diagnosis of depression. More astounding were the lateral benefits; he was also no longer suffering from low-to-moderate chronic pain and related neurological issues from previous injuries. Court’s commitment to further investigate the healing potential of psychedelics stems from his direct experience as a participant in this psilocybin trial. With his extensive experience in applied neurophysiology for pain & performance, he immediately realized psychedelics were going to completely change the way we are able to treat chronic pain.

His research explores the potential of psychedelics in neurological healing, particularly for traumatic brain injury and stroke rehabilitation. He delivered a TEDx talk at University of California, Los Angeles titled “Mental Health Meets Psychedelics,” and has served as a Special Advisor to the Board of the McKenna Academy of Natural Philosophy. Dr. Tabaac also contributes to Nevada’s Psychedelic Medicines Working Group, providing expertise on therapeutic applications of entheogens.
He is currently a research clinician on the PHATHOM study (Psychedelic Healing: Adjunct Therapy Harnessing Opened Malleability), alongside Gül Dölen and Steven Zeiler, investigating psilocybin-assisted approaches to motor recovery after stroke (ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT07053917).
