Here in Copenhagen we have started a movement of weekly dinners (on a Wednesday) hosted by the senior generation in their own homes.

Seniors with 60+ years of life experience who are community leaders, intellectuals, artists, storytellers, and want to share their experience over dinners for a small group each time.

Every Wednesday there is dinner hosted by a different Silver (senior host) who will open their front door, welcome a group of 5-8 people into their home, and share their stories, knowledge, and connections across the table over a themed evening.

Each host chooses their own theme and it is the aim to pass on their hard-earned knowledge.

So together with Gillian, we are here! this is the first Silvers Dinner in Aarhus, hosted by Gillian.

Born in Guyana and now living in Højbjerg, she brings both her South American roots and 40+ years of experience across continents to the table.
Guyana is known as a melting pot of cultures: Indigenous, Indian, African, Chinese, and European and its food reflects this blend. Gillian grew up cooking dishes across traditions, from curries and noodles to pepper pot, the beloved cassava stew of her Indigenous heritage (which she will make for you!)

At this dinner, she’ll serve a home-cooked Guyanese meal and share stories from her life: moving to Denmark at 19, building a career in teaching and academia, and navigating challenges with resilience and curiosity.

Gillian is a natural storyteller who loves conversation, food, and people. Hosting has always been a part of her life, at one point she even dreamed of opening a café to share Caribbean hospitality.

Hope to see you on board!
