The Living Room Series - Finding Calm; A Gentler Way to Meet Anxiety
Details
The Living Room is a free workshop series for people who want to live with more clarity, compassion, and calm.
Each session explores a different theme related to stress, boundaries, fear, grief, or emotional regulation, with tools you can actually use in your real life. These are live, experiential workshops on Zoom where we slow down, reflect, and reconnect with ourselves in a safe and grounded space.
Come to one, or join as many as you like.
Please note that this event is advertised in several places, so there will likely be attendees outside the Meetup RSVP list.

About this session - Finding Calm: A Gentler Way to Meet Anxiety
If fear or anxiety keeps coming back no matter how hard you try to manage it, that doesn’t mean something is wrong with you.
It means you’re caught in a familiar pattern.
Many of us respond to anxiety by trying to push it away, reason our way out of it, or force ourselves to calm down. And while that makes sense, those strategies often backfire, increasing tension, frustration, and self-doubt when the anxiety doesn’t go away.
This workshop offers a different approach.
Rather than fighting anxiety, we’ll explore how to change your relationship to it, so your nervous system can begin to settle instead of escalate.
In this 60-minute experiential session, we’ll explore:
- Why resistance often makes anxiety stronger
- How anxiety functions as a protective response, not a personal failure
- What it looks like to meet anxiety with care instead of control
- Simple ways to interrupt the anxiety spiral without forcing calm
This isn’t about getting rid of anxiety or “fixing” yourself.
It’s about learning how to respond when anxiety shows up… with more steadiness, clarity, and self-trust.
You’ll leave with practical tools you can use in everyday moments, and a clearer sense of how to support yourself when fear arises.
This session is part of a broader Living Room series on fear and anxiety, which includes upcoming workshops on stress, control, uncertainty, and more.
PS: I’ll be recording this session, mostly for my own review, to refine the teaching and maybe pull a few short clips of myself for future posts or workshop materials. Nothing you say will be used, and you won’t appear in any online content. You’re welcome to keep your camera off if you prefer.
