What to expect:

  1. The Intro (45-50 mins): We start with the basics. We assume you have zero experience. You’ll learn 3 or 4 simple moves that you can use immediately. We recap the same class to help you at 8:45 when our advanced dancers are being challenged.
  2. The Rotation: We move you around the room constantly. By the end of the first lesson, you’ll have met and danced with almost every Follow/Lead in the class.
  3. The Freestyle & Social: After the lessons, the lights go down and the music stays up. We play the latest chart-toppers, and you’ll have the chance to practice what you’ve learned in a casual, party-like atmosphere.

The "No-Stress" Clause:

  • No special shoes or "spandex" required. Just wear comfortable clothes and sneakers.
  • No partner needed. We provide all the partners you could need through our rotation system.
  • First time? It’s on the house. Come see why people get addicted to the endorphin rush of a great dance night.

Wear what you want but here is a guide to what our regulars wear:
For the Guys: "The Casual Professional"

  • The Shirt: A well-fitted T-shirt or a casual button-down.
  • The Pants: Chinos or jeans with a bit of stretch are perfect.
  • The Shoes: This is the most important part. Wear shoes with a smooth sole (like leather dress shoes or worn-down sneakers). Avoid high-grip gym shoes or "work boots"—you need to be able to spin without your shoes sticking to the floor.
  • The "Pro" Move: Bring a spare T-shirt in your car and some mints. Trust us on this one.

#### For the Ladies: "Socially Chic"

  • The Outfit: Leggings, jeans, or a skirt/dress. If wearing a skirt, many regulars wear bike shorts underneath for confidence during turns.
  • The Shoes: Flat shoes or a very low, stable heel are best to start. Avoid "stiletto" heels or heavy platform boots. You want a shoe that stays securely on your foot (no flip-flops or loose sandals).
  • The Accessories: Keep it light. Long necklaces or large hoop earrings can sometimes get caught during a spin!

We get it. Walking into a dance studio for the first time can feel more intimidating than a job interview. Here is the reality of what happens at Le Step:

  • "I have two left feet/zero rhythm."
  • The Reality: Perfect. You are our favorite kind of student. Modern Jive is designed to be the simplest form of partner dance. If you can walk in time to a beat, you can do this. We don’t do complex footwork; we focus on moves that actually look good.
  • "I don't have a partner to bring."
  • The Reality: Most people come solo! Our rotation system is mandatory during the lesson. You will be paired with a new partner every 3–4 minutes. By the end of the hour, you’ve met everyone in the room without having to think of a single "ice-breaker" line.
  • "Is it going to be weird or 'cringe'?"
  • The Reality: Not here. We dance to the music you hear on the radio today (Top 100, RnB). It feels more like a night out at a lounge than a 1950s ballroom class.
  • "I’m worried about being 'the only guy' or it being a 'pickup joint'."
  • The Reality: We maintain a healthy balance of men and women. This is a social club first. While many people do meet their partners here, the vibe is "friends first." It’s a low-pressure environment where you can be yourself.

### 🤝 The "Normal Guy" Guarantee

We know there’s a stereotype that dance classes are full of "theatrical" types or people who have been dancing since they were five. That isn't us.
Our Guarantee to You: "If you show up and don't find a room full of normal, down-to-earth people just like you, or if you feel like you haven't learned at least three moves you could use at a wedding or a club by the end of the night—we’ll give you a pass for your next three classes for free."

We are serious about building a community of guys and girls who want to learn a cool skill and meet people in a safe, fun environment. No ego, no spandex, just good vibes. And, if you are a creep just looking to hook up - don't bother joining us because we will ask you to leave. Friends first!

### 📅 The Commitment: "The RSVP Rule"

To keep our Leaders to Followers ratio fairly balanced to ensure everyone has the best experience, we ask for one thing: Commitment. So, if you RSVP 'Yes', we count on you being there. We plan our rotations based on these numbers.

If you're nervous, send us a message! We’ll have one of our regulars meet you at the door so you don't have to walk in alone.

Click attending and see you there at 7:15 for a 7:30 start.
St. J's School Hall - 22 Crown St Holland PK

What if I’m running late? Life happens. If you’re late, just slip in quietly. Find one of our staff members (we’ll be wearing "Crew" shirts), and we’ll help you jump into the rotation so you don't miss the flow.

Do I need to bring anything? Just a water bottle and a positive attitude. We handle the music, the moves, and the introductions. No special gear or "dance shoes" required for your first night.

Is it really free for my first time? 100%. We want you to see how fun and easy it is without any financial risk. Just mention you found us on MeetUp at the front desk. After that, it’s just $20 for a full 3-hour session (much cheaper than a movie and way more social!).

How old is the group usually? We have a diverse range, but this specific Monday night group is popular with young adults and professionals (20s, 30s, and 40s). It’s a high-energy crowd looking to stay active and social.

Can I bring a friend? Absolutely. The more the merrier. Even if they don't want to dance, they can hang out, but we bet they'll be on the floor within 10 minutes once they see how easy the moves are.
