โฐ MEETING TIME: 10.40am.
๐ MEETING PLACE: Blackheath station (start & finish) at the entry/exit, Great Western Highway at the traffic lights.

๐ฅพ DISTANCE: 9.5km return.
๐ฅพ GRADE: Easy/Moderate on a relaxing pace, not slow pace!
๐ช๐ฝ Reasonable fitness recommended for the walk to/from Mermaids Cave and Mermaid Falls with steep stairs, ups and downs hills, creek crossings and uneven rocky surfaces. Tracks expected to be wet and muddy at few sections.

Our Spring Welcome Weeks for 2025 are from Saturday 27th September through to Sunday 2nd November.
This is the time when our gardens are looking their best โ when the rhododendrons and azaleas are in full bloom, in every colour imaginable. Thousands of visitors from far and wide enjoy our vibrant valley views from The Lookout or by walking the winding paths through exotic plants under native eucalypts down to the Lake.
Come on a Thursday to Sunday and the Rhodo Tea Room is open (10am โ 3.30pm) where you can enjoy a delicious Aussie Cream Tea and other goodies.
๐ธ WHAT TO EXPECT:
๐ถ๐ผโโ๏ธThis is a social leisure walk suitable for nature lovers, bird watchers and amateur photographers.
๐ Upon arrival at Blackheath station, weโll have a quick toilet stop at the town centre.
๐ถโโ๏ธWeโll head to Campbell Rhododendron Gardens, about 20 minutes walk from/to Blackheath station.
๐ธ This unique garden is Blue Mountains native bushland underplanted with exotic species such as Azaleas, Mollis Azealas, Rhododendrons, Camelias, Kalmias, Pieris, Forsythia, as well as other cold climate deciduous trees.
๐บ The Rhododendrons are blooming this time a year and the garden looks Oh! So Beautiful! ๐ผ ๐ธ ๐ป ๐ธ
๐ถโโ๏ธAfter spending time taking photos and selfies in the garden and walking on a short trails with optional Aussie Cream Tea (own expense) weโll meet at the front main entrance and head towards Blackheath station for Mermaids Cave and Mermaids Falls walk.
๐ถ๐ผโโ๏ธItโs about 6km return from/to Blackheath station.
๐ This is a hidden gems in Blackheath, the waterfalls will look amazing after rainfalls. We will continue the walk into the forests and the scenery is just beautiful.

๐ถ๐ปAfter exploring the cave and waterfalls with loads of photos, weโll head back to Blackheath station after fun day out. ๐

๐ธ The Campbell Rhododendron Gardens are managed by the volunteers of the Blue Mountains Rhododendron Society of NSW Inc.
๐ผ Please bring correct change on the day to speed up the meet and greet.

๐WHAT TO BRING ๐
๐ Please ensure you wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather.
๐ฅพ Waterproof hiking boots or good grip walking shoes highly recommended for Mermaids Cave walk due to uneven surfaces and possible muddy tracks at few sections.
๐ฆ At least 1.8L of water, Hydralyte, snacks or packed lunch, hat, sunscreen, hand sanitiser, basic First Aid kit and a raincoat just in case of wet weather.
