🌞26 January 2025

Hi Everyone,

Each year on the 26th January when the temperature soars and Sydney streets become crowded a group of us head out to the lower Blue Mountains for a day’s hiking in cool rainforests, swimming in pristine waterholes and admiring some gorgeous waterfalls. Whilst there we also acknowledge and give thanks for the wonderful care of the land administered by the traditional custodians for tens of thousands of years! Please join us this year!!

🏊Note: If relaxing at a waterhole is not fun for you then this walk is not for you. You are not obliged to swim, but many will choose to. This is a fun group event with a focus on quality rather than quantity, so if getting through the bush at top speed is your goal, please choose an alternative meetup event.

🚄Start: The Bakers Wife Juicery & Salad Bar, 248 Macquarie Rd, Springwood NSW 2777(opposite Springwood Station). Open on public holidays
🚄End: Springwood Station
🚶Distance: 8.9 kms
🕘Start Time: 10 am (4 hours walking)
🕒Finish: Approximately 3 - 4 pm (allowing time for swimming)
🏋️Grade: Hard (rocky terrain, short ascents and descents)
🌳Terrain: Suburban streets and bush tracks

Getting there: Train to Springwood or drive. There is unrestricted parking in Macquarie Street and local streets on Sundays and Public Holidays.
Return journey - this is a circuit walk so we will start and finish a short walk from Springwood Station.

We will head off from the Baker's Wife through the local streets for about 1.5 kms before picking up the track. The track descends initially on well formed rock stairs through woodland and then into rainforest. We will alongside a cool shaded creek crossing it from time to time before arriving at Glenbrook Creek swimming hole, where we will stop for morning tea and those who wish to will have a swim. Leaving the waterhole we will continue to walk along side the creek for a few more kilometres before arriving at the second waterhole where we will stop for lunch. We don't usually have a second swim here however it is possible! After lunch we begin a climb out of the valley, still in the cool of the rainforest until we come across our first waterfall. After stops for photos at our next waterfall we will walk along the creek bed again before one last climb back up to Springwood.

What to bring:
🥾Good walking shoes, as the surface will be rocky and uneven in parts and may be slippery in parts.
🏊🩱🥽 Swimming costume, small towel
🍗🥤🍩Lunch and Snacks - Bring a decent lunch, snacks and lots to drink (2 litres) as there is nowhere to buy food or get drinking water on this walk.
😄Happy face

Gratuity:
