🌲 It’s a large open area with liquidambers along the Mt Irvine Road and rainforest behind the reserve.
🚙 I’m planning to arrive at the campground on Friday afternoon, 24th April to get the campsite for the group on first come first served basis.
✅ We suggest that you take a time off, leave work or home early or take a sickie on Friday, 24th April.

🚶‍♂️Plenty of things to do and see in the surrounding areas.

FACILITIES:
⛺️ Camp near your vehicle, picnic tables, designated fire rings (BYO firewood if No Fire Ban) and carpark,
🚻 Drop toilets with tank water (not for drinking).
Walking and bike trails.

️🌲 This is a remote campground, so please make sure you’re self sufficient and arrive well prepared.
🚗 The campground is accessible by regular 2WD vehicles and caravans.

🚘 WHAT TO BRING:
⛺️ Camping gears - tent, sleeping bag etc. Food, snacks, drinking water at least 10L, portable stove, butane gas, pots/pans, utensils, plates, mug, fold-up table, chairs, washing liquid, wash basin, wet wipes, gazebo or a tarp for shelter, hiking gear, warm jacket, thermals, beanie, gloves, blankets (cooler temperature at night), powerbank/charger, headlight, tent light & camp light, a bag of firewood (if No Fire Ban), all creature comforts that you can fit in your car and kitchen sink!

🚿 I have basic shower tent that you’re welcome to use. BYO washing water and shower gel.

📝 NOTES:
🪵 Free firewood may be available from Gumtree listings in your area.
🪵 You may also get it from Bunnings, Mitre10 or selected service stations for $20 a bag.
🪵 If you’re getting the firewood from elsewhere, please ensure it’s more than 15kg, not just couple of twigs or few dead tree branches or offcuts timber!
🪵 The costs will be shared amongst campers.

💵 GRATUITY
$25 PRE-PAID (non refundable if you cancel or No Show) per person for research, planning and preparation for this event.

📖 ITINERARY:
️🗓️ FRIDAY, 24th April:
You may arrive at anytime to setup camps and chill out. Perhaps a sunset watch at the lookout just 5 minutes drive from the campground.

🗓️ SATURDAY, 25th April:
If you’re coming on Saturday, please arrive in the morning before 10am.
‍Short walks, sunset walk and stargazing.

☕️9.30am - 10am:
Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be served.

🥾 10.15am - 11am:
Village walk at Cathedral of Ferns from the campground. It is another must for all visitors to Mount Wilson. There is a 'giant tree' as well as huge tree ferns, sassafras, a wide range of eucalypts and coachwood trees. The Cathedral walk is lovely in the mist.

🥪 11.15am - 12pm:
BYO lunch.

🍂 12pm - 2.30pm:
Drive to the main village centre (about 5 minutes) for photo shoot and selfies for the amazing colours of autumn leaves.
You may visit one or two of the paid private gardens (own expense) in the village.
ℹ️ Further info on the private gardens will be communicated on group WhatsApp upon confirmation.

🥾 2.45pm - 3.45pm:
Chinaman's Hat & Du Faurs Lookout Walk - less than 5 minutes drive from the main village centre.
Moderate walk, some uneven paths with downhills, uphills and stairs about 45 minutes return walk from the carpark.

⛰️ 4.30pm - 6.30pm:
Mount Banks Summit sunset walk, about 20 minutes drive from the campground and village centre. Sun is setting at 5.30pm.
‍Moderate walk about 4.5km return from the car park with uneven surfaces and steep stairs.
Please wear sturdy walking shoes, bring warm jacket, water or your favourite beverage, nibbles, a torch or headlight for this walk.
Awesome views at the lookout for sunset.

🏕️ 7pm:
Back at the campground for BYO dinner, drinks and be merry! 🍳🥓🥩🍗🥗🌽🍝🍰🍺🍾🍺

‍NO, you’re not required to do a cook off on the open fire. You may cook any meals on your portable stove or 2 minutes noodles or whatever you fancy. So, no pressure. Just relax and chill!

️🗓️ SUNDAY, 26th April:
OPTION 1:
Visit another breathtakingly beautiful and amazing private gardens in the village centre.

OPTION 2:
Visit The Blue Mountains Botanic Garden, Mount Tomah with free entry. Tours (free) runs most days at 11.30am from the Visitor Centre.

OPTION 3:
If you behave yourself, you may come along for a “secret” walk. 🌟 Shhhh…. 🤫

🗓️ MONDAY, 27th April:
On the way home, you may stop by at Bilpin Ciders, Hilbilly Cider, Pie In The Sky Roadhouse, Bilpin Fruit Bowl, museums, galleries etc. on Bells Line of Road for seasonal fruits, the best apples and meat pies or try an apple cider.

⛺️ You’re welcome to stay longer to explore the area if you wish.

✅ You are responsible for looking after your own health, safety and belongings. You must also take care not to put other people at risk.
✅ If you do not wish to be photographed (randomly or group photos), please DO NOT join this event!
❎ The village do not have any shops, cafes or public telephones.
🛜 Mobile phone reception can be patchy to non-existent, depending on your phone carrier and particular location in the village.
I🛜 Telstra generally has better reception.
🔥 Campfire will only be permitted during No Fire Ban. I will check on RFS website closer to the date.

🚗 Or if you’re able to offer a lift, wish to hire a tent, sleeping bag etc.
