Pickleball for Beginners and Intermediates. 7 AM, AND City Survey
Details
PLEASE NOTE THE 7:00 AM START TIME. (earlier time to try reducing impact from tennis players showing up. If this is too early, see you at 7:30am)
This is a good time to start responding to the City Survey regarding shared usage of pickleball/tennis courts. On the courts, San Jose has posted signs about the shared usage pilot program and soliciting input (see Meetup pictures).
CITYWIDE SPORTS survey regarding shared tennis/pickleball court usage at Canoas Park/Doerr Park
- Survey link, open this in your browser bit.ly/sharedcourt-pilot25
- The shared usage pilot program is 11/1/25 - 3/31/26
- The survey does not require you to enter any personal information.
- Since the survey pertains to both Canoas Park and Doerr Park, your comments might be helpful if you mention Doerr Park if your answer is park-specific.
The survey is only 7 multiple choice questions, plus 1 question offering you to write in any comments.
If you write in comments, some of these points might be useful (Don't forget to mention Doerr Park, if your answer is Doerr Park specific)
- Only 2 of the 4 available tennis courts at Doerr Park are marked with pickleball lines, meaning that if all pickleball courts are occupied, tennis still has half of the courts to play with at any time.
- Currently at Doerr Park, on tennis prioritized days, tennis can prevent pickleball from playing those days at Doerr Park if there are 8 tennis players. Conversely, on pickleball prioritized days, pickleball can play on only 50% of tennis courts which are painted with pickleball lines, while tennis can still play on 50% of courts that are not painted for pickleball. So, at Doerr Park, the fairest usage would be to prioritize pickleball every day, since pickleball can only occupy, at most, 50% of tennis courts due to the fact that only half of the tennis courts are painted with pickleball lines.
- I like playing pickleball on Sunday. So, ask for pickleball prioritization on Sunday.
Feel free to include any other points in the survey. Also, since there is no personal information included in the City Survey, you can submit as many new additional survey responses as you like whenever you think of something else.
if its raining or the courts are wet, we will cancel, don't want anyone slipping around and getting hurt. Right now the forecast looks clear.
Stay tuned!
