Know Thyself! Welcome all lovers of wisdom.
The goal of the Socratic Club is to bring together people from all different walks of life who are interested in discussing works of philosophy, theology, and literature by the greatest minds of history.
We are a diverse group of men and women who are intellectually sharp, open minded, and willing to learn and engage in dialogue on the path of wisdom.
Our meetings are two hours long the second Wednesday of each month.
We love to see new faces: please feel free to send us a message or drop in for a meeting.

The Problem of Ethics: Alasdair MacIntyre on the Nature of Virtues
Panera Bread, 779 S Federal Hwy, Deerfield Beach, FL, USI really enjoyed discussing Dr. King's Letter last meeting. Let us continue our voyage through the nebulous seawaters of modern ethics and approach a contemporary philosopher. Alasdair MacIntyre's After Virtue was published in 1981 and had a prodigious impact on the way we view modern ethics. This text is probably the most important meta-ethical work on virtue ethics in the 20th century. We will be reading one chapter from his seminal work, chapter 14,The Nature of Virtue.
