Waterton Canyon Saturday Hike
Details
With our recent snow, and the warm temps, trails might be a little muddy, so we're heading to Waterton Canyon (which will hopefully not be too bad).
The Waterton Canyon trail provides a beautiful walk along the South Platte River. It's home to a plethora of wildlife (Rocky Mtn Bighorn Sheep, deer, rattlesnakes, and I've even seen a bear), and because the road is wide and flat, it is perfect for conversations. It's 6 miles to the dam but since this is an out and back, folks can walk as far as they want and then turn around. My plan is to walk between 6-8 miles (and I tend to walk at a pretty good clip).
The parking lot for the trailhead is quite large and this early, there should be plenty of parking; I'll be at the crosswalk at 7:25am. We will begin walking at 7:35.
If you sign up, please show up unless you change your RSVP (even if you have to change your RSVP at the last minute). I completely understand that things come up.
Oh, one last thing, dogs are not allowed in the canyon.
