- How to get to trail head: See featured photo. Enter via Parkway Dr., take a right and bear right for over 0.5 miles. Do not bear left on the sandy road. You will see a fenced in area on the right which is a dog park. Good, then keep going about 0.1 miles, and you will see a restroom and changing facility, picnic table and lake on your left. Park right there. You will see my green Subaru parked there. The restroom is located just after picnic table no. 7 and before picnic table no. 4.
DETAILS:
Yes hikers are welcome at Wickham park. During the pandemic, I came here frequently to hike the trails hidden beyond the main road. These trails are maintained by the Brevard mountain bike association and they do a great job. The result of my many efforts is a 5+ mile hike through the winding named paths, but which a well defined route for hikers is absent. In fact there are about 100 twists and turns on the trails, and so we need to stay together and limit attendance.
About half of our time will be spent with exposure to the sun, so do bring sunscreen, bug spray, etc. Hiking sticks are optional. And bring water, as it can be hot under the open sun.
See you then and call me or text if you require any assistance.
