What we’re about
WELCOME to the St. Vrain Chain Gang Bicycling Club (SVCG) based in Longmont, Colorado. Our aim is to promote and encourage cycling through a friendly club experience, where camaraderie is developed through group riding.
Our rides generally cater to the Advanced Beginner and Intermediate Road Cyclist, who are looking to improve their skill level. In the spring-summer season (March through September) we offer 2 rides per week (Tuesday and Saturday). For the rest of the year we do a Saturday ride, weather permitting. Our riding groups usually split into 2 or 3 groups based on pace. Most our routes typically follow the quietest and most scenic routes in Boulder County and the surrounding areas.
Our goal for all rides is to keep the experience of group riding FUN and SAFE! We are a recreational cycling club, NOT a race club; by joining our group you are expected to be part of the group, and not treat the rides as a race, or as a solo ride. Please take the time to read over our SVCG Group Riding Safety guide.
Before joining/signing up for an SVCG ride, be sure you can ride at the average pace we advertise for each group. If you do not meet this minimum fitness level, unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate you, as it is unfair to all other riders. (A Group Pace = 18+mph Avg, B Group Pace = 15 - 18mph Avg).

This event is for lodging for the Tour of the Moon on Saturday, Sept 13. We have a large farm house tentatively reserved that will be available on a space available basis. The house itself has room for 8-12 people (Depends if couples willing to share a bed sign up). There is also potentially space for tents or RV's that the owners will allow for an added fee. It is located in Fruita, CO, about 1/2 hour from the Tour of the Moon start. We will need to work out the details for separate rooms for men/women/couples, but keep in mind that if you are averse to sharing a room than this may not be the place for you. Total price for 2 nights is $750, so the per person price will vary depending on how many end up staying. Could be as low as $75 up to $150 total for both nights. If we get less than 5 to commit before August 25th then the reservation will be cancelled.
In order to be considered talk to me at a club ride, or email me at paul@highplanes.com. I have already put funds down to reserve the place, so I will require a $50 deposit so I know you are serious. It is of course refundable if we cancel before August 25th. But once the cancellation period is past I will be counting on your attendance and payment of the final amount before Sep 12.
