Kum Nye - Tibetan Yoga Weekend Retreat
Details
Kum Nye is a meditative practice for the body and mind that leads to increased balance and well-being. The practice consists of movement and breathing exercises, self-massage, visualisations and sitting quietly between movements. Kum Nye is called Tibetan yoga but is not similar to what we usually associate with yoga. Anyone can participate, and you do not need to be trained to benefit from the practice. Kum Nye is something you can immerse yourself in and develop into your own daily practice. For those who already have a Buddhist practice, Kum Nye can be a complement that supports and assists in other meditations. This was one of the reasons why Tarthang Tulku created the Kum Nye system we use. Kum Nye was practised in Tibet, but not in the systematic form we encounter in the three books on Kum Nye published by Tarthang Tulku.
During this weekend, we will be introduced to Kum Nye's exercises and philosophy. The program will mainly be based on exercises and texts from the book Kum Nye Tibetan Relaxation, but inspiration will also be drawn from Tarthang Tulku's books The Joy of Being, Kum Nye Dancing and his latest Gesture of Great Love.
Course registration is for the entire weekend only, as two days provide more opportunity to fully understand the practice and its value. A prerequisite for participation is therefore attendance on Saturday in order to participate on Sunday.

## Meet Your Teacher
The course is led by Stig Albansson, who encountered Kum Nye during a six-month course/retreat at the Nyingma Institute in Berkeley, California, in 1996โ97. Stig has led Kum Nye practice groups at the Association for Tibetan Buddhism in Gothenburg since 1998, and since 2015 has completed several Kum Nye teacher training courses organised by Dharma Publishing. Since then, he has given numerous courses and retreats, including at Yeshin Norbu in 2020. Since 2017, much of the teaching has also been offered online, and since January this year, Stig has been holding Kum Nye sessions three mornings a week via Zoom.
