Stoicism - In Person - - Free - Hosted by Peter and/or Andrea

Details
We meet face-to-face in the Maroochy Botanic Garden at Tanawha every second Sunday (even-numbered weeks) from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. There are several shelters in the botanic garden, and the use of a shelter is on a first-come-first-served basis, so we choose an available shelter. We usually choose the shelter nearest the Friendship Colonnade.
From the car park take the path around the left side of the lake, then when you reach a T intersection in the path turn left, walk past the toilet block and you’ll see “our” shelter to the right of the Friendship Colonnade. If can't find us please call 0417 030 267
Our focus is on discussing ideas and techniques from Stoicism with the goal of living better lives. We sometimes have theoretical discussions, but the focus is on practical applications. The format is that we read a short text or two from an ancient or modern Stoic writer and discuss what it means to us in our daily lives. Our group strongly values confidentiality and respectful listening, so that we all feel safe participating in group discussions.
### What Do You Need
You do not need to read anything before you arrive, but if you would like to do so, our starting point for each meeting is the daily quote from The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday & Stephen Hanselman.
For example, if our fortnightly meeting falls on 14 July, we would look at the short quote chosen by those authors for 14 July, which happens to be from Epictetus’s Discourses, 3:13.
