Day of event April @ 813-486-3713
Let's cycle the Withlacoochee State Trail. This will be 10 miles out and back for an approximately 20-mile ride.
We will meet at Rails to Trails trailhead in Inverness. We head north on the Withlacoochee State Trail (WST) for 10 miles.
The Inverness area is very popular and crowded. You will need to be patient riding past the lakes, canoe rentals, parks, cafes, bathrooms, and playgrounds as the locals enjoy the amenities in this area. Additionally, there are several road crossings in this area. Although the locals are accustomed to cyclists, we need to stop at the crossings based on the traffic.
Just past Inverness, the trail becomes less populated, and you will notice the difference as we continue to head north. Take notice when going under Hwy 41 overpass you will see the Orange Blaze of the Florida Trail. This is where the Florida Trail leaves the WST and makes its way to the Citrus Tract. There are a few more minor roads, too, but stay alert. The WST runs closely along HWY 41 in this area, and oncoming / turning vehicles do not have to stop. Stay ALERT! Our next big road crossing is Lecanto Highway (CR486 and HWY 41). This intersection requires us to turn west on CR486 and use the designated crossway. Once crossing the highway we will continue our ride north until we reach 10 miles, then we will head back south and take our break at Hernando Park, where we have benches and bathrooms.

After our break, we will continue south and all the same rules apply, be alert when crossing roads, be patient going through Inverness, and enjoy all the sights.

Helmets are required.

Be sure to hydrate. 2 water containers are a good idea as some trails have no place to refill. Electrolytes are usually a good idea in the summer heat. If you do not have water with you, you will not be riding with the group. Bring snacks and food to fuel your body. Common courtesy to fellow riders and other folks on the trails is appreciated. Please come prepared and ready to ride. All bicycles and riders are welcome. But you must be able to complete 20 miles. Additionally, your bicycle must be in good working order, with tires inflated to the required tire pressure before you arrive. Thanks for your understanding.

NOTICE: When you ride with Suncoast Outdoors of Tampa, Florida, you understand and agree that you ride at your own risk to your person and property.
