Cypress Floodplain Hike at Richloam!

Come with us to experience the lush, mysterious floodplain within the Richloam Wildlife Management Area!

Arguably the most scenic hike in central Florida, the Richloam River Loop hike skirts the Withlacoochee River, taking hikers deep into mystical cypress forests and peaceful oak hammocks.

Channel your inner hobbit as you walk among huge trees proudly displaying water marks of past river-risings. Mid-winter and early spring are the best times to explore the area as much of summer and fall the trail is deep under the waters of the Withlacoochee River!

This hike is just under 11 miles, and includes the Florida National Scenic and High/Low Water trails. Bring your "A" game, lunch and plenty of water (up to 3 liters depending on weather).

NOTE: Participants must be able and willing to hike the entire route. We cannot allow anyone to try and find their way back to the car alone should they decide they don’t want to continue. We hike as a group.

After the hike you may want to stop at Richloam General Store for a well deserved old fashioned soda (open from 10-4)!
