Oscar Scherer State Park Hike from Lake Osprey to Big Lake
Details
The weather is starting to cool off, and it is time to put on our hiking boots. This is a about 6-miles hike on the path and off the beaten path more or less.
Let's meet at the parking lot by Lake Osprey and the Nature Center at 8:15 am and head out soon after. It is the parking lot after the campgrounds on the right.
I will have a YELLOW HARD HAT ON MY CAR along with the Suncoast Outdoors sign.
I will be hiking at a relaxed pace, not too fast and not to slow staying together. This is a one-way hike in a circle. Most of the trail is shady and very few sandy parts.
Most hikers know this as the sand trails, but I will take you through the SCRAB-Jay trail to the beautiful Canopy wood path, under the WIDOWMAKER into the COFFE GARDEN and past the BEAUTY BERRIES GARDEN. From there we will go over the wooden Bridge and hike off the marked path to BIG LAKE for a short brake. Then continue off the blaze trail under the LEGACY TRAIL and OLD RAILROAD TRAKS around LAKE OSPREY and back home.
What to bring: 3 liters of water, walking stick, whistle, a snack to eat by the lake and bug off.
There are bathroom at Lake Osprey.
