ARRIVAL: Arrive by 8:30 am. We launch between 8:45-9:00 am.
FIRST TIMERS: SunCoast Pedal & Paddle (SP&P) decals are available for purchase prior to the event. The cost is $3 (Please help with exact change). By displaying the SP&P decal on your kayak (or paddle), you won't have to sign the liability waiver on EACH trip you attend (instead you will sign an annual waiver when you purchase the decals).

Snead Island is a small island on the western tip of Palmetto. The island is primarily residential, though there are two dry dock storage facilities and remnants of a former palm tree nursery. Emerson Point Preserve is a 365 acre preserve operated by Manatee County on the western end of Snead Island.
Total trip mileage is approximately 7 miles. Due to possible strong winds and currents, this paddle is intended for intermediate/experienced paddlers ONLY! If you cannot keep up with the group you will be directed back to the launch point.
Don't Forget: Upon arrival, please sign the "Trip Liability Waiver" BEFORE entering the water (unless you have purchased a SP&P decal.
NOTE: No guests, pets, spouses or +1's allowed on this paddle.
IMPORTANT: Approximately 5 minutes before launch time we will hold a MANDATORY safety briefing. Please do not get into your kayaks until AFTER the safety briefing.
DON'T FORGET: PFD and whistle (both required by law)! ...
and optional: water shoes, water, bug spray, sunscreen, first aid kit, snacks, bilge pump, paddle leash, etc.
BE CONSIDERATE: Since the demand to attend our paddling events is unusually high, we request that if you plan on NOT attending the paddle that you remove your name from the "attendee list" or the "waitlist" as soon as possible! Please be considerate of other paddling members.
