HIKE THE TRAILS OF COTO DE CAZA

Details

ABOUT THE HIKE: We will be enjoying the beautiful spring landscape on the equestrian/hiking trails of Coto de Caza. This will be a 2 hour, 4 plus mile, loop hike at a moderate pace suitable for advanced beginner hikers. The route will take us on sidewalks, dirt roads and single track trails along rolling hills john with scenic views of the Coto Valley.

ABOUT COTO DE CAZA: The name may be translated from the Spanish as "House of the Hunt." It was once a working cattle ranch and hunting preserve. Legend has it that John Wayne would visit in the old days to ride and shoot. The former Gun Club with trap and skeet shooting is now the 2nd Fairway of the Golf Club. Coto utilized its historic riding and shooting facilities to host the 1984 Modern Pentathlon; one of the streets is named for the Gold Medal winner of the event. The community offers a network of riding and hiking trails that supports the Equestrian Center. Coto has been built out to become one of the largest master planned, gated, upscale communities in California with approximately 4,500 homes and 12,000 residents. The Coto Valley is currently blessed with lush green meadows, old growth oak groves, and wildflowers.
